(Video) Your First Meeting with a Financial Planner

Your first meeting with a financial planner

Are you hiring a financial planner for the first time or looking for a second opinion? If yes, are you apprehensive about booking the initial meeting?

I have been helping individuals, families and business owners achieve their financial goals and dreams for more than 20 years by developing comprehensive and personalized Life Plans. From my experience, most people are apprehensive about setting up a first meeting with a financial planner—a face-to-face meeting with me at my office.

Many of my clients tell me they were initially worried about sitting in a small room feeling uncomfortable as an advisor applied aggressive sales techniques until they reluctantly sign forms.

But I can assure you that when you meet with me, the biggest stress you will likely have is deciding whether to have a cookie with your coffee or not.

What to Expect in an Initial Consultation with a Financial Planner

My initial consultation is free, there is no obligation on your part, and we will not prepare any forms.

This meeting is all about me listening to you in order to understand where you are coming from, where you are today, your concerns and fears, and where you want to be—in other words, your goals and dreams.

At the end of the first meeting, if we both feel there is a mutual fit in working together, we’ll set a second meeting to review a personalized comprehensive Life Plan. Again, you will not sign any forms at this second meeting.

It would not be until a third meeting is set that we’ll prepare and sign forms.  This approach gives you and me more time without any pressure to decide if we want to work together.

If we do decide to work together, I promise you that no one will care more about you and your family’s money than I will.

Thanks for reading, and I hope to meet with you soon.
